Austin College senior football player Matt Finke has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, September 11, the conference office has announced.
Finke, a cornerback from Denison, tallied five tackles including two solo stops and picked off a pair of passes on consecutive possessions in a 20-14 win over Texas Lutheran University. Both of Finke’s interceptions led to touchdowns for the ’Roos, including his 68-yard return down to the one-yard line after his second pick. For his career, Finke has been selected as an All-SCAC defensive back each of the past three seasons.
Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
