Scholarships for New Students

General Academic Scholarships

Austin College offers a number of general academic scholarships not dependent upon the establishment of financial need. These awards are made chiefly in recognition of outstanding academic achievement and potential and range between $8,000 and $18,000 annually. These general scholarships for first-time full-time freshmen and transfer students require no additional scholarship applications. Students who wish to be considered for general academic scholarships must indicate such on their Application for Admission when applying to Austin College. Students completing all admission materials by the Early Action II deadline receive priority consideration for available general academic scholarships.

Typically, 75% of our students receive Austin College merit-based scholarships. Scholarships awarded to freshmen are renewed on an annual basis for a maximum of eight long terms of undergraduate study, excluding summer terms. Those awarded to transfer students are renewed on a term basis for the number of fall and spring terms deemed necessary by the College for a Bachelor of Arts degree.

They should complete any scholarship applications and submit them by December 15.
