Coach

Edie Fletcher
Head Softball Coach

Edie Fletcher serves as the head softball coach and assistant director of recreational sports at Austin College.

Fletcher also was an owner and instructor at 3D Sports in Denison, which is the only indoor facility certified for training professional and Olympic softball players by the National Professional Fastpitch League in the southwestern United States.  While at 3D Sports, Fletcher oversaw day-to-day operations, inventory control, sales, and marketing, as well as provided private instruction for individuals and clinics for local youth leagues.

Prior to her time at 3D Sports, Fletcher worked for the Grayson County Attorney as a victim services coordinator and has experience as a recreation director and supervisor from previous stints with North Texas Job Corps and Dallas Parks and Recreation.

Fletcher, a graduate of Southwest Texas State University, also is a member of the Easton Victory Club and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, and has done extensive work as an ASA Umpire and a Dixie Softball Inc. Umpire.  Fletcher also has served as an assistant coach at Grayson County College for several years.

Fletcher is the founder of Red River Fastpitch and coached the Red River Sting 18 and under club for seven years, which she guided to two top four finishes at national tournaments.  In addition to her coaching and umpiring experience, Fletcher also played collegiate softball at Texas Wesleyan College.

All-West Region
Stephanie Faith, 1B, JR, Austin College
All-West Region Second Team

Faith, a native of Rowlett, batted .381 with nine home runs and 32 runs batted in and added eight doubles to finish among the conference leaders in each category. With her nine homers, Faith also finished the season tied for the career lead in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference history. Earlier this spring she was named 1st Team All-SCAC following her outstanding season.

First Team All-SCAC

Faith, a junior from Rowlett, batted .381 with nine home runs and 32 runs batted in and added eight doubles to finish among the conference leaders in each category. With her nine homers, Faith also finished the season tied for the career lead in SCAC history.

Kali Gossett, 2B, SR, Austin College
Second Team All-SCAC

Gossett, a senior second baseman from Grand Prairie, earns 2nd Team honors for the second time in her career after starting every game and collecting 28 hits and scoring 16 runs while posting a .960 fielding percentage.

Carolyn Stone, OF, JR, Austin College
Second Team All-SCAC

Stone, a junior from Carrollton, was named 2nd Team as a utility player after spending time at catcher, shortstop and in the outfield and knocking in 13 runs with a homer and three doubles on the year.

Heather Farquhar, 1B, FR, Austin College
Second Team All-SCAC

Farquhar, a freshman designated player from Mesquite, led the team with a .440 batting average in 20 games played and drove in 10 runs on the year with 22 total hits and seven runs scored.

Abbey Hayes, OF, JR, Austin College
Honorable Mention All-SCAC

Hayes, a junior outfielder from Anna, played in 21 games and started 20, scoring five times with a double and four runs batted in on the year and was among the team leaders with 10 walks. Hayes also had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

Hitter of the Week (February 22-26, 2010)
Suzanna Beltran, UI, SO, Austin College

Beltran, a sophomore utility infielder from Houston, hit .455 (5-of-11) with a double, two home runs and five runs batted in as the ’Roos went 3-1 last week against the University of Dallas and Howard Payne. Against UD, Beltran hit a three run homer in the seventh to force extra innings. She also walked three times during the week.
