The Austin College swimming & diving team established five team records at the SCAC Championship Meet in 2010, and both the men and women finished ninth overall.

Alexandra Brown ’12 broke three school records at the 2010 SCAC Championship Meet, setting the 200 Backstroke mark with a time of 2:18.43, the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:23.02, and the 400 Individual Medley with a time of 4:55.12.

Drew Collier ’13 set new school records in the 100 and 200 Breaststroke at the 2010 SCAC Championship Meet, finishing with times of 1:00.93 and 2:14.23 respectively.

Coach

Head Swimming & Diving Coach

Brian Wright was named the new Head Swimming and Diving Coach at Austin College in August 2008.

Wright, a 2003 graduate of the State University of New York at Brockport, comes to Austin College after serving as an assistant coach at Bloomington High School South and also served as the Head Coach of the Counsilman Center Indiana Swim Team, a USA Swimming sanctioned team. He also is certified by USA Swimming and the American Red Cross.

Wright has also earned his Masters in Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology from Indiana University and is presently working toward his PhD in Human Performance. Wright also excelled as an athlete at SUNY-Brockport, where he was named the Outstanding Athlete for swimming and diving in 2000-2001. The following year he was named his school’s Outstanding Scholar-Athlete.

SCAC Diver of the Week, Elise Koestner
SR, Diver, Austin College
Koestner, a senior from Mesquite, swept both boards in a dual against McMurry University to receive the honor. Koestner finished first in the one-meter with a score of 163.70 and was atop the standings in the three-meter board as well after posting a score of 157.00.

Koestner, a native of Mesquite, took first place in the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions during the Austin College Invitational on Saturday, January 10. Koestner scored 168.20 in the 1-meter event and followed up with a score of 169.55 in the 3-meter event.
