Coach
Paul Burns
Head Women’s Soccer Coach
Paul Burns joined the Austin College staff in August 1995 to serve as the women’s soccer programs first head coach when it was elevated to varsity status in the Fall of 1996.
Burns has made a positive impact on the young program, as the Austin College women’s soccer program has posted a 152-93-20 overall record with a streak of 13 consecutive winning seasons. The Kangaroos won four straight American Southwest Conference East Division titles (1999-2002), in addition to the first-ever ASC Tournament title in 2000. The Austin College women’s soccer program has also made two appearances in the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament (1999 and 2000).
A native of England, Paul received his bachelor’s degree in sports science at the University of Staffordshire and completed his teaching certification at DeMontfort University (England).
In 1995, Burns received a masters degree in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia with an emphasis in sports psychology and exercise science.
While at the University of Missouri, he was head coach for the Tigers’ men’s soccer club, and also served as head soccer coach at Columbia’s Stephens College.
An accomplished soccer player, Burns was a member of the Staffordshire University team and was a member of a Staffordshire squad that reached the United Kingdom National Finals.
Paul is married to Holly and they have two children, Jade, 4 years, and McKinlee, 9 months.

SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Ali Ryan, F, JR, Austin College
Ryan, a forward from Paris, scored twice and added an assist in Austin College’s lone game last week, a 15-0 win over Dallas Christian College. Ryan has scored in every game so far this year, giving her a total of six goals in five games to help the ’Roos remain unbeaten at 5-0. |
SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Kaitlin Elledge, GK, SR, Austin College
Elledge, a goalkeeper from Fort Worth, blanked both East Texas Baptist University and the University of Dallas over the weekend in helping the ’Roos improve to 4-0 on the year. Elledge, a 3rd Team All-SCAC performer last year, has three clean sheets in four games and has surrendered just one goal all season. |

Ashleigh Johnson, D, JR, Austin College Johnson, a junior defender from Austin, started 17 games and helped anchor a defense that surrendered just 16 goals all season. |

Emma Treu, F, FR, Austin College Treu, a freshman forward from San Antonio, tied for the team lead with six goals and added two assists for a total of 14 points on the year, second best on the team. |

Shelley Casey, F, SO, Austin College Casey, a sophomore forward from Albuquerque, New Mexico, finished the season with five goals and three assists. |

Annie Gunter, M, SR, Austin College Gunter, a senior midfielder from Richardson, scored six goals including three game winners and added three assists for a team-best 15 points on the year. |

Natalie Nelms, M, FR, Austin College Nelms, a freshman midfielder from Plano, started 17 games and scored a goal with two assists. |

Kaitlin Elledge, GK, JR, Austin College Elledge, a junior goalkeeper from Fort Worth, started every game for the ’Roos and allowed just 16 goals, four of which came on penalty kicks. Elledge had a .826 save percentage and added an assist from her goalie position. |

Offensive Player of the Week
Annie Gunter, SR, F, Austin College Gunter, a forward from Dallas, scored two goals and added an assist over the weekend as the ’Roos topped Oglethorpe 4-0 and battled Sewanee to a 1-1 double overtime tie. Gunter assisted on the game winner against Oglethorpe and added both of her goals in the first 19 minutes of that match. For the year, Gunter has five goals and three assists. |

Defensive Player of the Week
Kaitlin Elledge, JR, GK, Austin College Elledge, a junior goalkeeper from Fort Worth, had three shutouts in three games to open the season, stopping all six shots she faced as the ’Roos went 2-0-1 in their first week of action. Elledge, a 2nd Team All-SCAC selection a year ago, helped the ’Roos to a tie against UT-Dallas and wins over Fontbonne and LeTourneau. |
