Women Get Connected

Women have always held prominent roles in the life of Austin College, from the founding gift to the institution by Emily Austin in 1849 to the inauguration of Marjorie Hass in 2009 as the first woman president. Women Get Connected brings together women who support Austin College and celebrate the College’s legacy of global education, leadership, and service.

The mission of Women Get Connected is to:

  • Engage women in the academic and cultural life of Austin College through local events and activities
  • Inspire women to create social change in their communities
  • Empower women to achieve success through education by providing scholarship support for the next generation of ‘Roo women students

In spring 2010, Women Get Connected drew more than 275 women to events in Dallas, Houston, Austin, and the Sherman area. Each event features a short program, hors d’oeuvres, and fellowship.  Host committees for each city will announce events as they are planned for 2010-2011.
